In his early years, Gene M. Woo was raised in the Central Coast region of California. He pursued higher education at the University of California at Irvine where he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, with a minor in anthropology. While studying at UC Irvine, he took a gap year to study abroad for two semesters at the University of Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Gene went on to obtain a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. During his time there, he was actively involved in volunteering as an Executive Board Member for the non-profit organization Student Hurricane Network, which aimed to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. As part of his efforts, Gene spent his spring break in March of 2006 volunteering at the non-profit Mississippi Center for Justice in Jackson, Mississippi.

During spring break in April of 2007, Gene M. Woo volunteered through the Student Hurricane Network at the non-profit Capital Appeals Project in New Orleans, Louisiana. Later on, in December of 2010, he was admitted to the California State Bar as a licensed attorney.

In his final year of law school, Gene interned for a former Deputy District Attorney in their private practice. Following graduation, he continued working for the same Deputy District Attorney and represented various clients in different legal cases. This included representing injured workers in workers’ compensation cases, plaintiffs in personal injury cases, and clients in criminal defense cases.

After gaining experience in various workers’ compensation defense firms in southern California, including one of the largest workers’ compensation defense firms in California, Gene M. Woo decided to open his own private practice in the Central Coast region of California. His practice was solely dedicated to representing injured workers. Additionally, he also represented clients in Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases, landlord/tenant disputes, and other legal matters.

In January of 2022, Gene expanded his legal expertise to include family law matters. He now represents clients in family law cases such as divorce, custody, visitation, restraining orders, and more.
